Twelve high performance athletes from sports including netball, hockey, taekwondo and wheelchair rugby are ready to take their learnings from the field of play to the classroom as ambassadors for The Good Village Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) Problem Solvers Program.
Over the next eight months the ambassadors will visit primary schools (virtually or in-person) across the country to help students deliver a project focused on health and wellbeing.
The free program aims to teach students about what it takes to create a healthy, supportive and sustainable village of people while unpacking a challenge within Australian sport.
Schools can apply to have an AIS Athlete ambassador deliver two virtual or in-person sessions that weave in lessons in science, humanities, arts and economics, while also exposing students to a range of different sports.
The AIS athlete ambassadors are available to schools nationwide, including in regional areas.
Application forms and more information are available on the AIS website.

This National Volunteer Week (NVW) the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) is calling on everyone to celebrate and thank the almost 3 million sport volunteers across Australia with a big 3 Cheers for Volunteers!
From May 15 to 21, 2023 the ASC will shine a light on the incredible people who get involved to volunteer. ASC will be sharing stories and promoting content across our social media channels to elevate sport volunteers onto the podium. Importantly, the ASC is encouraging anyone involved in sport to jump on board and help us say 3 Cheers for Volunteers.
To assist our sporting partners the ASC has put together a toolkit of resources to enable wide promotion of this message. The toolkit contains easy-to-use templates and additional resources such as key messages, social media content, email campaign wording, and a handy guide to support engagement with the campaign.
With time ticking down until NVW 2023, we hope our sport sector teammates will use the toolkit to spotlight sport volunteers who are at the heart of their sport.
The ASC look forward to seeing the creative ways our sport sector supports National Volunteer Week and collectively raises a big 3 Cheers for Volunteers!
