Volleyball Tasmania is excited to grow children’s lifelong love of sport, and in an effort to do so we have partnered with the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) to get kids active, engaged, and having fun through the Sporting Schools program.
We are excited to be a part of this sporting journey and to be working closely with Australia’s primary schools, teachers, coaches and parents to nurture the next generation’s commitment and love of volleyball now, and into the future. To arrange a session, please fill out our booking form below:
Benefits of Volleyball:
- Inclusive of all cultures, abilities and genders
- An accessible sport - any surface (oval, grass, hall, beach), anywhere, anytime
- Can be played by all genders
- Non-contact sport
- Minimal equipment
- The court size and net height can be adjusted to accomodate players skill level
- The popularity of volleyball in schools can be seen in the largest high school sporting tournament in the southern hemisphere

$80 a session (45 - 60 minutes) + GST

TRYSTARS KIDS SCHOOL TRIATHLON CHALLENGE
TRYstars is Triathlon Australia’s national junior participation program for 7-12 year-olds that encourages kids to get involved in triathlon all around Australia. The TRYstars Community program is delivered in local triathlon clubs or community areas. The TRYstars Schools program is delivered in partnership with the Australian Government and the Australian Sports Commission under the Sporting Schools initiative. Schools can apply for funding of the TRYstars program.
TRYstars is delivered by Triathlon Australia accredited deliverers. They focus on all the FUNdamental movement skills – agility, balance, coordination, speed, running, jumping, gliding, buoyancy, throwing, catching, kicking and hitting which encourages successful participation in any sport.
The club/community program is delivered over eight one-hour game-based sessions including swim, ride and run activities. The school program is adapted to four sessions including the same activities.

This year, players will need to register via PlayHQ this includes an individual registration fee of around $30.
We will send out individual registration links to team contacts once teams have been registered – all players must be registered before the roster begins.

The Sporting Schools Years 9 and 10 grant program aims to support positive sporting environments for teachers and students to experience the benefits of being involved in sport.
The program will provide up to $1.2 million in grants to eligible schools for initiatives delivered in Term 3, 2023. Eligible schools can apply for a Years 9 and 10 grant of $3,000 (GST exclusive), to deliver an initiative in Term 3, 2023 that supports one or more of the following categories:
- Capability Building: initiatives that support the growth and development of teachers or students to be involved in sport.
- Sport Program Delivery: support the involvement of students in sport.
- Event Delivery: support the delivery of an event that maximises involvement in sport.
For schools undertaking programs that support the involvement of young people in sport volunteering, teachers can visit the Australian Sports Commission’s volunteering information and resources page below.

Little Athletics Tasmania is once again providing Schools with our very popular LAPS program to schools across the State.
Through LAPS, Little Athletics Tasmania aims to deliver an outstanding educational athletic program that provides a high quality experience to every participant.
The children involved will develop basic running, jumping and throwing skills by participating in highly active sessions. Approved Little Athletics Tasmania Development Officers will present the program to the students.
Our qualified presenters travel to schools and coach students in a variety of track and field events including –
- Sprints
- Relays
- Hurdles
- Shot Put
- Discus
- Long Jump
- High Jump
Which event, and the number of events to be coached is up to the individual school. LAPS is a flexible program so that we can cater for every school’s needs. Presenters can visit the school for a one-off session, or a program of sessions over two or three weeks, subject to availability.
The focus is on group participation, team moral and lots of fun activities.
At the end of the school coaching program, all students will receive a Certificate of Participation and a small giveaway. In addition, information will be provided on how they join their local Little Athletics Centre.

Term 4 - Saturday 21st Oct to Saturday 2nd Dec (no hockey 4th Nov due to long weekend)
The HookIn2Hockey Competition has been developed to give children aged 6-12yrs an opportunity to learn the game of hockey and perfect the skills in a modified game-based environment. Games are played on smaller fields with less players for greater player participation. Mini Games – Big Fun!
The 1hr HookIn2Hockey session will be run over 6 weeks in Term 4 at Meercroft Park on Saturday Mornings (9:00-10:00am). The format will include a 15-20min skill session to help introduce new players to the sport, as well as continuing skill development for existing players followed by mini games in the following age groups:
Prep-Grade 2
- 1/8 Field
- Max 5 players on the field at one time
- 2 x 15 min halves (3 minute half-time)
Grade 3/4
- 1/4 Field
- Max 6 players on the field at one time
- 2 x 15 min halves (3 minute half time)
Grade 5/6
- 1/2 Field
- Max 7 players on the field at one time
- 2 x 15 min halves (3 minute half time)
Equipment
Hockey sticks and shin pads can be provided if you do not own this equipment. All participants must have their own mouth-guard.

Tasmanian All Schools Cross Country Champions 2024

The Australian Sports Commission (ASC) has developed a FREE online course to help primary teachers deliver PE and support better health outcomes for students.
The PE – Essential skills for primary teachers course has been designed to support teachers to build the skills and confidence to deliver fun and engaging PE, while earning professional learning hours for their development.
From beginners through to those looking to refresh their knowledge, the online course supports teachers to upskill and take their PE lessons and planning to the next level.
Allowing teachers to learn in their own time, and at their own pace, the online course is packed full of easy-to-use lesson plans and expert tips, that will help teachers to deliver fun, safe and inclusive PE.
Aligned to the Australian school curriculum, the course is now available through the ASC’s Australian Sport Learning Centre.

The latest Active Kids grant round is open for applications soon.
Your clubs can apply for the new HART Sport equipment and ISC Sport uniforms they need to get more young Australians playing sport more often.
The Active Kids grant program is generously funded by The Dickinson Foundation in partnership with the Australian Sports Foundation (ASF), and focuses on volunteer-run grassroots and community clubs and organisations with members aged 20 or younger.
Grants will be awarded in the form of equipment supplied by HART Sport and on-field uniform supplied by ISC Sport.

A fun game for the family. Use a mallet to hit the balls through the hoops and move around the lawns. A fun game for family and friends. (Best suited to students aged over 11 because of the size of the mallets).
Croquet is easy to learn and lots of fun.

Little Athletics Tasmania will be conducting 3 FREE Come and Try Days across the state in September.
If you have ever thought of giving athletics a go, now is your opportunity.
This season is one of the greatest opportunities to join as you will be able to showcase your talent at your local centre and then compete in the Tasmanian All School Championship on October 21st and 22nd and then if successful you can represent Tasmania at the School Sports Australia All Schools Championships which are being held in Launceston on November 23rd through until November 27.

The 2023 Harcourts Burnie 321Go Kids Race is on Sunday November 19th at West Park. This iconic Burnie event is a great family day out so get your kids entries in and come along and enjoy the experience. Entry is $18pp and free for family members and spectators.

This year’s event will feature the usual kids races for ages 5 to 13 years plus the Intersport Lap for Littlies for 4 year olds. There will be some additional features to
- A chance to run the Burnie 10 Kids Dash as well (October 19th in Burnie). Entries via the 321go portal. This is an 800 metre run up and back along Wilson St as a lead in to the 321Go.
- “Have a Go” is a new inclusive participation event being held in partnership with NW Support School. Open to children 4—13 yeas of age
A $500 sports equipment prize for the Primary School with the highest participation rate. - CAT Underground will again be supporting the lucky draw new bikes for each age group.
- Medals for our 9th year runners.
- Heaps of giveways on the day plus the usual food and entertainment.

Devonport Touch Association Primary School Roster 2023 has launched.
The competition will run on a Wednesday night, for 8 rounds starting October 25th and concluding on December 13.
We encourage teams to have 8-12 players, (6 players on the field at a time).
If an individual school cannot fill a side, we can combine players to field a
team. Please contact us for assistance.

Each game will be supplied a match ball and will have at least 1 referee. We
encourage parents and carers to get involved in coaching, refereeing, or
